Koh Samui is known for its paradisiacal setting, soft sand, and turquoise water. Whether you're an amateur or a novice diver, don't forget your fins, mask, and snorkel to discover the island's marine depths. You can observe the coral reef at Koh Tao, a great site, thanks to the shallow, warm and azure waters.

Nature lovers will find happiness in the heart of the jungle of Koh Samui, where they can bathe in the many waterfalls. Among them, you can discover the Na Muang waterfalls, the most popular twin waterfalls of the island, located in the south of the island.

You can't miss Ko Angthong, the marine national park of Mu Ko Ang Thong with 42 pristine islands on 102 km2. This string of islets consists of little natural paradises covered with tropical forests of all shapes and sizes, heavenly beaches, and coconut trees in turquoise waters: a necklace of emeralds scattered in the sea.

The inhabitants are mainly Buddhist, so you will find many temples to visit, the temple of the "Big Buddha" for example, known for its golden cover or others of ochre color. Do not forget the Magic Garden, where you will observe magnificent sculptures of angels, animals, and Buddhas; it is an incredible natural place.

Chinese influences have also left their mark, with Sinothai temples like Wat Plai Laem and its statue representing Guanyin with 18 arms.

Let's not forget the Muslim community with its village of Hua Thanon in the southeast of the island and its magnificent mosque and its tiny fishing boats.

For sports and action lovers, Thai boxing is the national sport. You can watch the fights at the Chaweng stadium, but be careful not to be too sensitive... For calm spirits, the practice of yoga and meditation are also prevalent.

If you want to get involved in the local life, it will be possible for you to do volunteer work: preservation of some animal species, teaching English to children, or protecting the reefs.
